Kenneth Dart takes part in commercial and recreational real estate development and retail operations in the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the United States, and other parts of the world. In the Cayman Islands, Ken is the owner and a member of the board of Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd., Dart Enterprises Ltd., and Cayman Shores Development Ltd. (CSDL). CSDL is developing a 500-acre, mixed-use sustainable community, Camana Bay, in phases over several decades. Ken’s companies in the Cayman Islands employ approximately 500 people.
Ken is also a board member of the Dart Foundation and is the owner and a Board of Directors member of Dart NeuroScience, which was created to research new technologies and treatments to lessen memory loss from the effects of aging, brain injury, and stroke.
Ken received his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1976. After graduating, he joined his family’s manufacturing business, Dart Container Corporation, which he left in December 2014.
During his tenure at Dart Container Corp., the company grew steadily and is now the world’s leading manufacturer of foam cups. In May 2012, Dart Container Corp. acquired Solo Cup Company. This addition to the business increased the number of Dart Container’s employees to over 15,000 people in more than 45 facilities in 8 countries. In addition to selling products to institutional distributors like U.S. Foodservice and Sysco, Dart provides products to national accounts such as Dunkin’ Donuts, Chick-Fil-A, Sonic, McDonald’s, and Burger King. Dart products, under either the Dart name or private label, can also be purchased in warehouse clubs and grocery stores.
