Kenneth Dart, University of Michigan Alumnus, received his degree in mechanical engineering in 1976. After graduating, he joined his family’s manufacturing business, Dart Container Corporation.

Dart Container grew steadily and in May 2012 acquired Solo Cup Company and is now the world’s leading manufacturer of foam cups. This addition to the business increased the number of Dart Container’s employees to over 15,000 people in more than 45 facilities in 8 countries. In addition to selling products to institutional distributors like U.S. Foodservice and Sysco, Dart provides products to national accounts such as Dunkin’ Donuts, Chick-Fil-A, Sonic, McDonald’s, and Burger King. Dart products, under either the Dart name or private label, can also be purchased in warehouse clubs and grocery stores.

Ken Dart also takes part in commercial and recreational real estate development and retail operations in the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, United States and other parts of the world. In the Cayman Islands, Ken is owner and a member of the board of Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd., Dart Enterprises Ltd., and Cayman Shores Development Ltd. (CSDL). CSDL is developing a 500 acre mixed use, sustainable community, Camana Bay, in phases over several decades. Dart’s Cayman Islands companies employ approximately 500 people.

Ken, Dart Foundation Board Member, is also the owner and Board of Directors member of Dart NeuroScience, which was created to research new technologies and treatments to lessen memory loss from the effects of aging, brain injury and stroke.
